Twenty-Eight Riders and 97 Trainers Licensed in Ohio COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 7. — Twenty-eight jockeys and 97 trainers were granted licenses by the Beulah Park stewards and the State Racing Commission Friday Additional licenses will be issued today when the total number of jockeys registered is expected to pass the 40 mark. Jockeys licensed today, all of whom will ply their trade at the 20-day spring meeting opening Saturday, include Jimmy Dob-son, W. B. Williams, Hiram Tacket, Colin Knisely, Johnny Fernandez, Tommy Man-sor, Billy Taylor, George Adkins, Eugene Miller, Jack Welsh and Rogeio Nodarse. Among the apprentices granted licenses were G. E. R. Russell, Eldon Coffman and Ray Correa. Meanwhile, in the state racing commission offices, track inspectors received their final instructions prior to the start of the Ohio season Saturday at Beulah and Thistle Down. Commissioner Garrett Claypool was unable to attend the parley as he was out of the city. The commission approved Dr. L. M. Holmes, Norris Royden and Harold Ringler as stewards for the 20-day meeting at Thistle Down.
