M0NA, slow to reach her best stride, came out for the drive and, after assuming command midway of the final furlong, drew clear under pressure. SPIZERINKTOM, never far back, lugged in continuously during the stretch drive while on the outside and failed to overtake the winner when hard ridden through the late stages. CERTIFY moved up boldly on the far turn, then flattened out. BLUE JET was much used engaging for the early lead and had little left at the finish. PRECEDER was never dangerous. OUR PIGEON faltered badly once displaced. Scratched— 73678 Chall Amaze, 112. Overweight— Mona, 11 pounds. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Lady Madcap, May 24, 1922—1:44—4—113. WATCH ANDY outsprinted the field into the first turn, made the pace to the stretch under intermittent pressure, then held OLD IRON safe in a long drive. OLD IRON slipped through next to the inside rail entering the stretch and finished determinedly in a sharp effort. FERRY PILOT responded gamely when roused for the drive and was getting to the leaders. PRE-POTENTE was sent into closer contention nearing the furlong marker, then tired under punishment. WISE SUN had no mishap. BE BRIEF could not keep up. HINKST0N and CHICALM0 were outrun. Overweight— Old Iron, 4 pounds. Attendance 25,000 Estimated; Total Mutuel Pool, ,146,453.
