Preakness to Climax Sport at Old Pimlico Stake Also to Be Run on Each Of Five Other Days of Meet PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 7.— Diversified sport with members of all divisions offered equal opportunity in stake fixtures, will be presented during the coming week at Pimlico as the Maryland Jockey Club concluded its abbreviated meeting and the Maryland spring racing season with the seventy-third running of the Preakness Stakes. The mile and three-sixteenths Preakness, which is the second jewel in racings "Triple Crown," being preceded by the Derby and followed by the Belmont, this season, carries 5,000 in added money and the starting field promises to be a stellar one. Ten of the 14 entrants in todays Kentucky Derby also are eligible for the Preakness, namely: Olympia, Ponder, Ky. Colonel, Old Rockport, Model Cadet, Johns Joy, Capot. Wine List, Palestinian and Duplicator. Others expected to be in the line-up next week-end are Mrs. E. H. Ellisons Sun Bahram. Crispin Oglebays Noble Impulse, Mrs. F. A. Clarks Algasir, King Ranchs Swap Out, Sylvester W. Labrot, Jr.s, Taran and Christiana Stables Parliament. The week will get under way with sophomores in the spotlight in the ,500 Survivor Stakes. The majority of the starters in this event will be striving for a starting position in the richer Preakness. Tuesdays program features sprinters in the Baltimore Spring Handicap, a ,500 added event, to be run at six furlongs. Probable starters in the race include Calumet Farms Pep Well, Richard Carters Orielo, William G. Helis Mr. Ace, E. A. Nicodemus Laran. Helen S. Reinemans Carrara Marble, Mrs. E. DuPont Weirs Royal Governor, Lazy F Ranchs Nathaniel, Christiana Stables Mark Up and either Isa. Itsabet or Imacomin from the Brookfield Farm. Infield performers will be featured on the mid-week program in the ,000 Spring Maiden Steeplechase, an event of two miles over 15 jumps. To predict a possible starting field would be practically impossible, but Rigan McKinney, who saddled the Spencer winner in The Heir, would seem to have two well-regarded possibilities in Coeur and Hot. Both have worked extremely well on the flat and have shown jumping ability in their schooling. Homebred juvenile fillies will have their day on Thursday in the Pimlico Breeders Stakes, at four and a half furlorrs. The field for the ,000 event should come from the following lassies: Ella K. Brysons It Girl, Emma Downs Likarock, ""enry Hork-heimers Jeep Quest, S. W. Labrot, Jr.s, Strada, Mrs. D. Sheas Busy Morning, Larry MacPhails Marian Ann and Grant Thorns World Empress. Possibly the most interesting race of the week will develop in the Friday running of the Pimlico Daks, a mile and a sixteenth test for three-year-old fillies. Recent developments indicate that Calumet Farms Wistful, winner of the Kentucky Oaks, and Foxcatcher Farms Gaffery, second in her New York engagement, will be on hand for the local fixture. Others expected to go postward are Brookfields Imacomin, Brookmeades Floating, Greentrees Boom-deay, Hal Price Headleys Lithe, Helis Delya Queen, J. A. Manfusos Alluring, King Ranchs Undercurrent, Crispin Ogle-bays Why The Rush and Cortright Wether ills Raise You.
