BILL opened a commanding lead at once, was under light restraint while maintaining his advantage, responded when roused and held on gamely while drifting out. EDEMGEE worked his way up between horses, drew close to the leader in the late stages, but faltered. RAMPAGEOUS was forwardly placed throughout and had no mishap. FRENCH LURE was forced to lose ground while kept on the outside. MILK PACT was in close quarters repeatedly. MARLTOWN showed nothing. SUNSHADE quit badly after forcing the pace. OVERPOWER was outrun. DOUGS REWARD, taken back at the start and allowed to settle into best stride before moving into contention, closed stoutly between horses and was up in the final stride. ESS JAY ESS appeared much the best, was caught in close quarters moving through on the inside leaving the backstretch, was taken back went to the outside, lost ground, assumed command and just failed to last. LOVER followed close to the pace under steadying restraint, rallied mildly when roused, but was not good enough. SKY CHILLA outran the field to take an early lead, set the pace under light restraint, then weakened when challenged. GENTLE KAY had no mishap. BOSS B. quit. The others were outrun. KELLEY, steadied within striking distance of the pace, moved into command when roused and just lasted to hold FIRST PEBBLE safe. The latter worked his way up on the outside near the pace entering the stretch, then finished with a belated rush. GERHAM opened a long lead at once, which allowed him to set a fast pace, shortened stride inside the final furlong and was tiring at the end. FANT0M VENTURE was unable to make up ground unde/ pressure. LUCKY INCIDENT was never far off the pace, then failed to respond when roused. CAPTAIN B0UD0UR saved ground while trailing, was sent between horses on the turn, but failed to make up ground. GAY MOONBEAM flashed brief speed. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. AGRARIAN-U left the barrier in front, was kept under a steady hand ride and held on gamely under repeated challenges. SCIPIO, close up on the outside of the leader, was put to pressure entering the stretch, but was unable to gain command, yet held on tenaciously. GRAY STAR forced the pace most of the trip, saved ground on the inside and was coming again at the end FANCY FLYER, away slowly, was sent up on the inside nearing the far turn, but failed to make up appreciable ground. FLAG DRILL, quickest to begin, opened a clear lead at once, was taken under light restraint while setting the pace, came out slightly on the final turn, met a stern challenge from MESMER, then continued on gamely to hold MAKE-UP MAN safe. The latter, kept close to the pace on the outside, closed willingly under a drive and was catching the winner. COLUMN moved into contention entering the stretch, then came between horses to finish stoutly. MR. CHAIRMAN rushed up boldly on the outside, then faltered. MANNA H. forced the pace under urging, then weakened slightly in the closing stages. MESMER was kept under restraint to the final quarter, slipped through on the inside to get on even terms with the leader, then faltered. GRAND ENTRY was sent up fast causing slight interference soon after the start, remained close to the pace until the final furlong, then tired. RABIES was knocked back slightly trying to get through on the inside soon after the start and failed to recover. The latter worked his way up gradually into contention, came through on the inside to challenge the leader, but was not good enough. SHAKO forced the pace throughout, came to the outside of the leader on the final turn, but was not good enough. SPJTEFUL SUE went evenly. MULLINGAR raced in spots. GLORYS CHANCE dropped back soon after the start and was unable to reach serious contention thereafter. TELBEDA flattened out after a mild challenge on the final turn. MONIFIETH showed nothing. ARIEL ACTRESS was used up forcing the pace. SVENGALI was outrun.
