Blue Border Nears Track Mark at Delaware Park Wins Great Dyke Purse as Fourth Consecutive Fayorite on Program DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 13. — Another of Greentree Stables stakes competitors made good here this afternoon when Blue Border, five-year-old gelded son of Bimelech, annexed honors in the featured Great Dyke Purse to become the fourth consecutive winning favorite of the afternoon. Blue Border, winner of the Palm Beach Handicap at Hialeah Park this winter, and a creditable fourth in the Wilmington Handicap on the opening day of the current meeting, skipped six furlongs in 1:10%, missing the track record by only one-fifth of a second. He was backed down to .80 by the crowd of approximately 8,500 and scored by a length over Fox-catcher Farms Manyunk. Two and a half lengths farther back was J. Howard Rouses Three Dots, with Michael Seths Black Goods and Mrs. J. R. Steinemans Pom-peian completing the field. With apprentice William S. Wright handling the saddle assignment, Blue Border bounded to the fore as the field left the gate, with Three Dots in close pursuit. The two retained their position along the backstretch and around the turn, with Blue Border saving ground along the rail. Manyunk was under restraint during the early stages, but still was only two and a half Continued on Page Three Blue Border Nears Delaware Track Mark in Popular Win Continued from Page One lengths off the leader after a half mile. He was roused at that stage by Carson Kirk and moved menacingly, making it appear for a moment that he was going to give the Greentree colorbearer a stiff battle. At the sixteenth pole, Manyunk was but a length off Blue Border, but, at that stage, he hung and failed to make up ground thereafter, despite the whip and heel action of jockey Kirk. Wright needed only intermittent pressure in the late stages to retain his advantage.
