PHIDIAS, under steadying restraint while within easy striking distance of the leaders, rallied from the outside through the stretch and proved best in the drive. VIM raced MARY ANN into defeat but could not withstand the bid of the top one. TURNED TRICK raced forwardly from the start and tired slightly. MARY ANN held a commanding lead to the stretch and tired. BO WAY caught tired horses. SIR JINX showed nothing. KENPLAY weakened. HAPPY PAPPY was sore. SATURDAY, slow to settle into stride, raced well in the late stages. SAFETY CATCH raced within striking distance but lacked a rally. SET FREE showed improvement. BAY LEAVES set the pace to the stretch and flattened out CALL YOU was not a factor. TOY MING showed speed and remained in the first flight briefly. The latter rallied well after a half mile, then hung in the finar sixteenth. THREE DOTS pressed the pace of the winner to the stretch and weakened. BLACK GOODS tired after a half mile. SEAWARD went to his knees at the start, was steadied while following the pace, then responded gamely on the outside through the stretch to wear down JETSAM. The latter was rated while setting the pace, turned back the challenge of FRITZ MAISEL but failed to resist the winner. FRITZ MAISEL was not hurried while pressing the pace, moved to the leader in midstretch, then tired. GASPARILLA closed fastest of all. REX ROMANUS was taken back early and rallied only mildly. SILVER MONEY rallied mildly on the turn and faltered. GREMLIN showed nothing. ZORIEL was outrun. FALSE RUMOR was through after a half mile.
