Arroz Jockey Ray York Something of World Citizen CitizenRAY RAY YORK rider of Arroz is a paradox in that he is a veteran of 20 years and is no stranger to Derby competition havin ridden Phil D to a bangup fourth in last years Derby He is something of a world citizen having been to school in such towns as Manila Tokyo and Samoa His parents are Navy people and young Raymond accompanied them in his growing years to the far parts of the globe He now calls San Diego Calif home York established his reputation in California as a topflight rider despite a series of mishaps A long series of accidents upset his career in ¬ cluding the breaking of his collarbone in the same place three times York signed to ride Arrox while in California but after he inked the papers he was invited to New York for a trial by the Cain Hoy stable of I Harry Guggenheim He has been plying his profession on the Metropolitan circuit for the last few weeks
