Horsemen at Sportsmans Hold to Purse Demands DemandsNo No Entries for Monday to Be Filed Track Will Keep Box Open Sunday SundaySPORTSMANS SPORTSMANS PARK Cicero HI May 2 There will be no entries for Mondays racing filed here tomorrow according to a statement issued this afternoon by Joseph G Kohout vicepresident of the central division of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association The announcement came after yesterdays conference with president William H Johnston of Sports ¬ mans Park failed to bring about a settle ¬ ment of the purse dispute between the HBPA and the Sportsmans Park manage ¬ ment and at which the horsemens organ ¬ izations demands for a substantial increase in daily purse distribution were turn down downKohout Kohout stated that he and the executive members of his organization would meet again tomorrow morning between 930 and 1100 a m at their office on the track grounds at which time they would be avail iable for any conference with president Johnston JohnstonEarlier Earlier in the day Johnston stated that should the horsemen refuse to enter their horses Saturday morning for Mondays rac ¬ ing that the office of the racing secretary would remain open Sunday Racing secre ¬ tary Robert P McAuliffe and members of his staff will be on hand both Sunday morning and afternoon should the horse ¬ men decide to enter their horses or if the strike should be ended by agreement late Saturday SaturdayThe The HBPA has asked for a revised purse distribution setup on the basis of 50 per cent of the tracks share of the mutuel take and breakage This proposal was turned down by Johnston Late yesterday Johnston announced a 2000 per day in ¬ crease in purses this in addition to two previous increases
