Dare Gorman Gorman Rates Counterpoint Best Horse He Has Ridden RiddenDave Dave Gorman 26 years old was born in Elmont New York and his only previous Derby mount was last year in C V Whit neys Count erpoint who finished eleventh Dave is the son of Ed Gorman a former rider and he rode his first winner in April 1942 When he was 18 he married and now has a daughter In 1950 he temporarily gave up the saddle when his weight shot up to 142 pounds In 1950 he acted as an official at Arlington and Washington Parks Later he went to California and by strict dieting brought his weight down to 113 pounds to handle Vul ¬ cans Forge in the Santa Anita Handicap The best horse he ever rode was Counter ¬ point and he won the Hopeful with Middle ground the Brooklyn Handicap on Assault and the Carter Handicap astride Better Self He rides Master Fiddle tomorrow
