Hodgins Native of inos Once Was Prominent Starter StarterJACK JACK HODGINf was born in Illinois on January 1 1894 out he now makes his home in Lexington Kentucky He saddles Sub Fleet today He started in racing as an exercise boy for Bob Allen When he became too heavy he took a job as an assistant starter and aided in sending many Kentucky Derby fields on their way He also worked his way up to the starting stand and served at several major courses before opening a public stable He asso ¬ ciated himself with Dixiana in 1939 and he has been unusually successful with the Fisher horses recently winning the Churchill Downs Handicap with the fine race mare Heres Hoping During previous local meetings Hodgins put the1 tack on such speedy performers as Star Reward and Spy Song among many others
