Branch Rickey Denies Report Ralph Kiner About to Be Sold PITTSBURGH, Pa., May 21 UP.— General manager Branch Rickey of the Pittsburgh Pirates denied another report today that he was about to sell Ralph Kiner and said he has "no deal on" for the National league home run king. Rickey said he had told the management , of the Chicago Clubs last fall that if there i was a Kiner deal in the making he "would let them know." However, he said, "I am not trying to i make a Kiner deal; theres nothing pending. He said the Cubs had made an offer for ■ Kiner last year, but he said he would consider "no cash offer for any player who has i playing value." "However, I have repeatedly said that there is nobody on the team I wouldnt exchange, if I could improve my club, but i Id have to be very sure I was improving ; the club," he said. A Chicago report said the Clubs had offered 00,000 and two players for Kiner. . Asked to verify the offer, Rickey merely r said, "Ive never denied it."
