f 4 Fort Miami Shows Handle Increase Total Play of ,047,082 For 25-Day Meet; Wellman and McDermott Lead Owners Fort Miami, the one-mile course at Mau-mee, Ohio, near Toledo, showed a considerable increase in total and daily average pari-mutuel handle this year over its corresponding 25-day meeting last year, despite a decrease in total and daily average attendance. Figures for the 25 -day meeting, which began April 18 and concluded last Saturday, show that 80,535 patrons attended and wagered ,047,082. This represents a daily average attendance of 3,221 and daily average mutuel play of 61,883. During the tracks opening session last year, for an identical number of days, 109,250 fans wagered ,387,805. The percentage of winning favorites was above normal, 40 per cent of the first choices getting home in front in the 223 races run. Fifty second choices were successful, while 83-outsiders scored. On eight occasions, an odds-on horse triumphed while seven held at odds-on didnt get to the charmed circle. Horsemen shared in a net distribution of 67,300, the daily average net being ,692. Leading money -winning owner was the combine of Wellman and McDermott with ,575 by virtue of seven wins, five seconds and two thirds, plus several minor portions of purses. The charges of W. F. Parks earned ,975 to place that owner second on the list. With Ease Winner of ,200 With Ease, with three victories, two seconds and a lone show award, earned ,200 to top the money-winning horses. "Alfred Boulder earned only 75 less, while Cop-perstone "came in third" with ,025 to his credit. Parks, who conditions a public stable in addition to his own charges, gained training laurels with an even dozen successes. Parks 12 winners was five more than T. McDermott and H. J. Pitt compiled apiece. Harold Craig showed the way among the riding colony with 43 winning mounts in 185 tries. Craigs margin was 18 victories over G. R. Martin, and his percentage of .23 also bettered Martins mark — .20. Complete Fort Miami statistics follow.
