Domquil Sprints to Easy, Popular Suffolk Triumph Frankie Zehr Injured in Spill; DeSpirito Adds to Win Skein By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 21. — Mrs. M. J. Bresnahan, Jrs, Domquil, a son of Four Freedoms, came from off a torrid pace in the featured Brockton Purse and flashed along the inside rail to scamper to an easy triumph in 1:10% for the six furlongs. Four lengths back of the winner, T. W. Reardens Nutmeg Lad saved the runner-up spot by a half length over the early leader, Henry Forrests Triumphant. Ridden by Hubert Trent, a substitute for the injured Frankie Zehr, Domquil left no doubt as to his superiority over his five rival sophomores and rewarded his backers among the 10,282 crowd, with a .60 payoff. He was winning his first race of the current season and became the third choice of the day to score. After winning with his last four mounts yesterday, jockey Despirito extended the ! Skein to SJy Straight, hv a/nnnHng tor th» I Daily Double today. Woody Sedlaceks Red Design provided the Laurence booter with an easy score in the opener but he had to survive a claim of foul to take the second race with Tom Jolleys Tenn. Tommy. The holders of the winning Daily Double combination received 0.40. The afternoons card was marred when a nasty spill occurred near the three-furlong pole during the running of the third race. The five-furlong juvenile dash had a dozen starters and G. R. Wynhoffs Gaddy B. ridden by Johnny Choquette, was laying about third moving on the leaders when he bobbled and went down tossing his rider underneath the hoofs of the onrushing youngsters. Luckily for Choquette the horses missed his prone body but Frankie Zehr, astride L. O. McQuowns Butchie S., did not fare as well. Butchie S. was unable to escape the jam resulting from the spill and v/ent down heavily, with rider and horse failing to arise after the field passed. It was later discovered that Zehr had sustained lacerations of the head and he was removed to the Revere Memorial Hospital for treatment and further observation. Butchie S. appeared to have suffered a broken leg and had to be destroyed on the spot.
