California Governor Urging Increase in Racing Tax SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 21.— A plan to increase the tax levies on hard liquor and horse racing to offset the loss of VM""" H"° *n - ™™™* hiphor Ktatj* in. come tax exemptions is being urged by Gov. Earl Warrens administration here. The new plan calls for upping the income tax exemptions for married couples from ,500 to ,250 and for single persons from ,000 to ,750. The proposed tax break for the lower brackets of income is regarded as the best type ammunition for a vote-gaining campaign.
