Imbros, Poona II. Among Nominees to Californian 00,000 Stake to Be Renewed At Hollywood Park on June 11 HOLLYWOOD PARK. Inglewood, Calif., May 9. — Thirty-six horses headed by Imbros and Poona II., the latter holder of the worlds record for the distance of the race, have been nominated for the 00,000 added Californian at Hollywood Park on June 11, racing secretary John Maluvius announced today. The mile and one -sixteenth Californian is the first of three 00,000 races Hollywood Park will present during its 53-day meeting, which opens Friday, May 13. Imbros scored a length victory over his stablemate, Determine, in last years Californian and in doing so equalled the existing worlds record of 1:41. However, that mark was lowered at Santa Anita last winter when Poona II. won the San Fernando Stakes in 1:4015. Both Imbros and Poona H. were nominated with stablemates. Determine, 1954 Kentucky Derby hero, was named with Imbros. Star of the Forest, another of Hel-bushs foreign-breds. was nominated with Poona II. Three eastern handicap stars, William G. Helis. Jr.s Helioscope and Maine Chance Farms Jet Action and Black Metal, were named. Helioscope was fourth in voting for top three-year-old of the year in 1954 after winning the Pimlico Special and four other stakes.
