May 9. — Funeral services were to be held at 8 oclock this evening at the Patterson and OConnell Funeral Home, San Mateo, for Robert H. McDaniel who plunged to his death from the Golden Gate bridge last Thursday afternoon. Hundreds of horsrhen, jockeys, officials and racing personnel were to pay their last tributes to McDaniel who for the last five years has led the nations trainers in point of winners. McDaniels remains are to be shipped to Los Angeles and burial there will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park where another service will be conducted at 3 oclock Wednesday. McDaniel leaped into the bay less than a half hour after he saddled Aptos for a winning performance in the sixth race last Thursday. He left no notes and no one has been able to advance a satisfactory reason for his act of suicide at the height of his turf career. He is survived by his widow, Evelyn, and two small daughters.
