Projectile and Machiavel Arrive at Belmont Park BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y„ May 9. — The first two foreign performers for Belmonts International Steeplechase arrived at Idlewild Airport this morning at 10:30 a. m. Projectile, representing France in the 0,000 event, and the Italian campaigner, Machiavel, completed their trans-Atlantic journey in fine shape and after 24 hours in quarantine, will be vanned to their Belmont stalls and begin preparations for the May 21 event. Accompanying Projectile, who is owned by Prince Said Toussoan, was a groom, while Machiavels entourage included Signor Ettore Tagliabue, the bay horses owner; trainer Vincenn Corbella, jockey Armando Carargio and groom Franco Marazzoni. The Irish and English entrants in the two and one-half miles infield event are scheduled to depart for America on May 12, allowing one full week of training over the Belmont course before the race. The Irish jockey Pat Taafe planed in Sunday with his bride. Taafe, who scored an unprecedented double in winning the Irish and English Grand Nationals this year, will ride Beech-park, the Irish entry, when that horse arrives next week.
