SMITH QUITS ARDEN FARMS NEW YORK, X. Y., June 5— John I. Smith, who succeeded Louis Feustel as trainer for the Arden Farms Stable, has severed his connection with that establishment and has been succeeded by George and Hubert Odom. Following a conference with Smith, W. Avi rill Harriman decided to turn the horses over to the new trainers. George Odom will take over Chance Play, Sun Edwin, Sun Worship and six two-year-olds, while Bob Odom will take over the remainder. The horses will be turned over today following the running of the last race. The Arden Farms purchased 3 liberally at Saratoga last year, both privately ami at public auction. There had been rumors lor some time that there was considerable dissatisfaction with the manner in which. Smith handled the hoiscs and the change was not in the nature of a general surprise to the horsemen. :
