GREAT VICTORY FOR RACING The defeat of the ten per cent tax on pari-mutuels as well as the twenty-five per cent tax on admissions, was a big victory for the turf, and the National Thoroughbred Foundation had much to do with the bringing about of that defeat. There is still a chance that these taxes will come up in the Senate debate with a view of having them restored to the schedule, but thus far the score is with the sport, and the champions of racing and breeding are wide awake to the danger. Senator Tydings made a magnificent plea for the sport in his opposition to the tax on pari-mutuel tickets, and most of the credit for its defeat belongs to him.
