Breeder on Coast to Send Two Yearlings to Saratoga LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 29. Walter T. Wells, former president of the California Breeders Association, is invading the Saratoga Springs yearling market this summer with a pair of colts "who are expected to attract more than ordinary attention. The youngsters have been sent from Wells Rancho Oro Primero to Leslie Combs LT.s Spendthrift Farm at Lexington, Ky., to be prepared for their journey east. The yearlings are brown colts, the pick of Wells crop. One is Hiken, by the Teddy sire Kenty, from High Flight, by Hkh Time. High Flight is the dam of the sMnter and stake winner, Liberty Flight. AS the latter was by Liberty Limited, a member of the Teddy clan, Hiken is more than a half-brother to Liberty Flight. " The other yearling is Wise Cracker, a son of By Pass II., from Wisecrack, by Vul- cain. Wisecrack is the dam of the stake winner Smart Crack and the three-year-old Cold Crack. Both colts are good-looking individuals and the Kenty one is especially big and strong. Hiken and Wise Cracker-are eligible the California Home-Bred .Stakes at Bay Meadows and the California Breeders Champion Stakes at Santa Anita next year. The future of these races is problematical at the moment, but there is hope that major racing will be resumed in California. l r J" to hy iy S Xt D- pe ii-
