:EMPIRE CITY AUTUMN -MEETING; STAKE ENTRIES CLOSE AUGUST 23 Stake entries for the autumn meeting at Empire City will close August 23. The meeting will be the closing one on the metropolitan circuit for this year and will open Saturday, October 10, and continue until" Saturday, October 30. The stake offerings for next fall are the largest ever given at the hilltop course. The most valuable is the Yorktown Handicap, with ,000 added, for three-year-olds arid over, at one mile and a quarter. The other stakes follow: Pelham Bay Handicap, ,500 added, one mile and an eighth, for three-year-olds and over. Fordliam Selling Stakes, ,000 added, one mile and a sixteenth, three-year-olds and over. Scarsdale Handicap, all ages, ,000 added, one mile. Kingsbridge Highweight Handicap, for all ages, about three-quarters of a mile, ,000 added. New Rochelle Handicap, all ages, ,500 added, one mile and a sixteenth. Ardsley Handicap, about three-quarters of a mile, two-year-olds, ,000 added. Hartsdale Handicap, five and a half furlongs, two-year-olds, ,000 added. Rainbow Selling Stakes, about threequarters of a mile, two-year-olds, ,000 added.
