OFFER GREAT SUMS FOR GAY CRUSADER LONDON, England, August . It is in the air that J. B. Joel seeks Gay Crusader, the champion of 1917. Other parties have sought the great .horse. The British Bloodstock Agency offered 50,000 for him last year. At the time a noted English breeder who has had extensive business with Americans declared that lie would give more than that great sum. This breeder, it is rumored, will go to 00,-000 for the horse. It is believed, however, that one of the conditions of the will of the late A. W. Cox, Mr. Fairie, who "bred, owned and raced Guy Crusader, was that the horse, left to his brother, A. R. Cox, should not be sold. Gay Crusader is a brown, seven-year-old, by Bayardo Gay Laura, by Beppo, and in great demand as a sire at a ,500 fee, if a mare is accepted.
