GENERAL NEWS NOTES OF THE DAY Earl Thompsons victory in the 110 meter hurdles of the Olympic games yesterday morning put Great Britain second in the point standing of teams. The final of the shot-put was won by Porkola of Finland, who put the sixteen pound shot 14.81 meters. Earl Thompson, Dartmouth star, who is representing Canada in the Olympic games, won the final heat of the 110 meters hurdles, hanging up a new worlds record of 14and seconds. II. E. Darron of the Mcadowbrook Club, Philadelphia, was second, and Fred S. Murray of the New York A. C., third, Wilson, of New Zealand, was fourth. Walker Smith, of, the Chicago A.
