0TT0 STIFEL COMMITS SUICIDE ST. LOUIS, Mo., August IS. Otto Stifel, millionaire former brewer and. at one time prominent in racing circles, committed, suicide by, shooting himself through the head at his home in Valley Xarls, eighteen wiles west of Umi shortly after noon today, ne was 53 years old. Stlfei was identified here for many years with brewery Interests, and also owned a racing stable in partnership with C. E. Rowe. He also was one of the cjiief. figures in the Federal league, and later acquired an interest in the, St, Louis American league club, which he retained at thu time of his death.
