TWO MEETINGS AT OTTAWA Preparing for Midsummer Racing at Connaught Park Over 45000 in Stakes and Overnight 1urses 1ursesWill Will Be Distributed at Each of ofthe the Two Tracks OTTAWA Ont May 22 Tough mid ¬ summer racing in Ottawa will be a big experiment there is every indication that the coming meetings of the Connaugh Park Jockey Club July S to 15 and August 5 to 12 will be very successful Preparations are already under way at Connaught Park and within a week or two the plant will be in firstclass shape A meeting of the man ¬ agement committee was held this week after which it was announced that Joseph McLen ¬ nan had been reengaged as racing secretary iand that Mortimer Mahoney would again be in charge of the parimutuel machines Rac Canadian Racing Associations as in former years and J B Campbell will act as stew ¬ ard representing the Canadian Racing Asso ¬ ciations ciationsThe The Connaught Park Jockey Club will distribute about 45000 in stakes and over ¬ night purses at each of the two meetings The Chateau Laurier Handicap at one mile and seventy yards for threeyearolds and upward will be run on Saturday of the first meeting July 10 while the Directors Stakes will likely be contested oh the Saturday of the second series seriesRacing Racing will again take place under the patronage of their Excellencies Lord and Lady Byng and it is expected that the influx of tourists in July and August will help swell the attendance to a great extent extentSecretary Secretary Gorman who returned this week from a trip to the Maryland and the Xew York tracks reports that the outlook for good I horses is particularly bright Many of the prominent American owners will campaign throughout the Quebec circuit as the six weeks continuous racing will undoubtedly prove quite an attraction Divisions from the WilsonSalmon Whitney Healey and Smith stables have already been promised for Connaught Park Dorval and Blue Bonnets and some of the owners have arranged to race at Ottawa and then go down for the meeting at Saratoga SaratogaHon Hon Sen X A Belcourt is again presi ¬ dent of the Connaught Park Jockey Club with Messrs G E Fauquier and W F Powell as vice president The manage ¬ ment committee again consists of Messrs 10 S Houston W II McAuIiffe J K Paisley Hon Sen Belcourt Mr W F Powell Mr Allan Ross and Mr Stewart McClenaghan
