H0MEW00D TRACK OPENING President Sweitzer States Positively Racing Will Begin at New Course on July 3. The Ilomewood track will open on July 3 as scheduled, according to Robert M. Sweit::er. president of the Illinois Jockey Club. The meeting will continue for thirty days, and all the stakes, including the American Derbjr, will be run off. said Mr. Sweitzer. "I am now in a position to slate positively that Ilomewood will open July ;, and that the people of Chicago and Illinois will have an opportunity of seeing many of the best thoroughbreds in training compete for turf honors during our summer racing season," saiil Mr. Sweitzer. "Th • first unit of our grandstand will he Completed before July :t. There will he accommodations for abont eight hundred horses when our barns are finished. Contractors assured me that the stables will he completed hefore the bugle sounds for the first race." The r cent statement of States Attorney Crowe that he would not tolerate betting on tlie races in any form at any track in Cook county was not discussed by Mr. Sweitzer. It has heen intimated, however, in the event of interference the Illinois Jockey Club will seek an injunction and take the matter to court.
