One Hundred and Forty -Five Named in Lincoln Handicap. * Most Prominent Tnrfmen in East and West Represented — Outstanding Stars of Racing Nominated for 5,000 Prize. The popularity of racing at beautiful Lincoln Fields is well attested by the wonderful array of nominations for the third running of the Lincoln Handicap, which will be the big attraction of Saturday, July 7. The remarkable number of 145 entries was received for this 5,000 added handicap, with practically all of the foremost turfmen of the country having one or more representatives among the entries. Such well known sportsmen as H. P. Whitney, W. A. Harriman, J. N. Camden, W. R. Coe, Marshall Field, S. D. Riddle, W. S. Kilmer, H. F. Sinclair, II. P. Headley, Mrs. Payne Whitney, E. B. McLean, H. J. Ma-comber, W. J. Salmon. E. F. Seagram, Stuy-vesant Peabody, W. T. Waggoner, L. Water-bury, Yal Crane, R. J. Nash, A. C. Schwartz, H. G. Bedwell, J. J. Coughlin. Mrs. J. D. Hertz, R. L. Gerry, Harned Bros., E. R. Bradley, F. M. Grabner, L. J. Marks, J. W. Parrish and others are among those who made nominations for this valuable fixture. Chance Play, which carried the colors of W. A. Harrimans Arden Farms Stable to a glorious victory in the last years running of the Lincoln Handicap, when ridden by the peerless Earl Sande he led home Flat Iron, Princess Doreen, Rhinock, Jock and other stars in the fast time of 2:041,£, a new track record, is named again to strive for the rich prize. Mike Hall, the recent winner of the Dixie Handicap and with two new American records to his credit in 1927, is likewise named for the Lincoln Handicap. That wonderful pair of locally owned handicap stars, Chicago, the property of F. M. Grabner and Flat Iron, belonging to Stuyves-ant Peabody, president of the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club, are also among the entries. Such other celebrities as Display, Black Maria, Fred Jr., Nimba, Crusader, Valorous, Rolled Stocking, Grey Lag, Sweepster, Crystal Pennant, Edisto, Gaffsman. Sir Harry, Handy Mandy, King Nadi, Chance Shot, and Osmand are included in the nominations. With so many of the brilliant stars of the turf named for this popular fixture, there is every reason to expect as good, if not better, a field than contested for the prize last year.
