FOHANAUN S VICTORY CUP SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. LONDON, England, May 5. — The Victoria Cup, a handicap at seven-eighths renewed at Hurst Tark today, was won by Fohanaun, a five-year-old by Glasgerion — Thistle, owned by Sol Joel. Portland, carrying the colors of Capt. G. Dunne, was second. Oak Ridge beat Tommy Atkins for third. There were twenty-three starters. The winner was piloted by F. Winter and carried 122 pounds. Portland was under J. Dines and 102 pounds. A. Burns rode Oak Ridge and G. Baines was up on Tommy Atkins. Fohanaun took the lead in the last quarter and won by two lengths. Portland beat Oak Ridge by a length and a half for second place. The winner was the favorite at 2 to 1. Portland was second choice at 5 to 1. Ideal racing conditions prevailed for the race and a big crowd was in attendance.
