t 1 CANADIAN TURF NOTES i o and OTTAWA. Ont, June 10. Joe Kdwards, who is handling the Canadian division of the E. F. Sanford stable, is endeavoring to secure the services of jockey F. Mann to ride Brown Wizard in his stake engagements at Blue Bonnets. Mr. Edwards reported that Gold Coin, winner of the second race on Thursday, came out of his race in lame condition, making the second casualty that the stable has suffered at the Connaugnt Park meeting. Jockey S. Cooper, one of the Cooper twins, was an arrival from Montreal and will ride for E. D. Springer at the present meeting. Louis Angevine and Teddy Orr, general manager and assistant of the Montreal Jockoy Club, are expected here in a day or two to allot stabling quarters to owners that are going to the Montreal course for the meeting that begins next Saturday. Hoity Toity, Great Rock and Hobcaw, all of which were on the stewards list for bad acting, were all restored to good standing at a meeting of the stewards held in the clubhouse at Ottawa. Mr. Wright, an ardent admirer of the thoroughbreds, will remain over for the remainder of the meeting here. The following horses have been placed on the outside list for their feature engagements at starter Marshall Cassidys barrier: Saratoga Maje, Murcella, L«ower Five, Sonata, Somerset, Kayo, Star Gold and Brevet. S. J. Melntyre, president of the Hamilton Jockey Club, remained over to witness the running of the Lord Willingdon Cup after attending the meeting of the Canadian Racing Associations Friday. Frank Kearns will ship a carload of racers to Blue Bonnets to take part in the meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club that will follow the meeting at Ccnnaught Park. The following committee was present at the meeting of the Canadian Racing Associations held in the club house at Connaught Park Friday: R. J. Melntyre of Hamilton, J. H. Madigan of the Niagara Racing Association, J. M. Hendrie, chairman ; W. P. Fraser, Ontario Jockey Club ; Fred Richard, Dorval ; Maj. Allen Ross, for the local association, and Scott Griffin uf Thorneliffe. Ed Gleason, who is training a division of the J. E. Smallman horse3 on the Canadian tracks, suffered a i ainful injury Friday evening. He came near losing his forefinger on his left hand while cutting grass for his horses. Four stitches were needed to close the wound. The plater Charles De Marco, owned by Charles B. Hendrickson of Jamaica, L. I., was destroyed when a severed tendon, the result of a loose horseshoe, which he struck while galloping at Connaught Park a few days ago, failed to heal. The division of the W. J. Salmon stable that is being campaigned at Long Branch by J. Tighe will be shipped to Blue Bonnets to augment the band being handled by Jack Pryce. It is likely that Pryce will he called back to New York to take Dr. Freeland and Rome of those that are being raced in Canada to Chicago.
