FOXY WINS DERBY TRIAL Dinah Did Upset Beats Voltear and Takes Full Second Off Track Mile Mark. CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 19— L. W. La-brots Dinah Did Upset was returned winner of the Derby Trial Purse, which served ; s the principal attraction at Bainbridge Park this afternoon. It was only after a hard stretch drive, however, that the Upset filly gained a head victory over the favorite, Voltear. War Hawk was a creditable third. The mile was run in 1 :38 flat, reducing the track record a full second. Jockey Steve ODonnell took Voltear to the front midway of the back stretch, opening up an easy lead with Dinah Did Upset in closest attendance. When straightened out for the run home, the filly responded with rare courage and under good handling by apprentice W. Carroll proved the gamer in the final test. Voltear was conceding the winner seventeen pounds and he held on with determination when put to a drive. A thunderstorm threatened during the greater part of the afternoon, but the rain failed to materialize until after the running of the sixth race. The track was fast and the attendance good for a midweek day. The first race brought about the graduation of O. and A. Raders three-year-old Clownish. The gelding found a way through next to the rail in making his stretch run and took good advantage of it, overhauling Verbena and beating out the aged mare in the last few yards. Verbena finished second after showing good speed throughout. Keeper finished fast on the outside and deprived the tiring Wrackeen of third place. The lone first-time starter in the second race, for maiden two-year-olds, proved to be the winner. This was M. J. Ayers filly. Elfish, by Runstar — Mavehona. She broke quickly and proceeded to go early to the front, where she remained through a pretty stretch run. Ada El Bee made a strong finish after working her way up on the outside and got second place. Little Speed also gained in the stretch and beat our Little Pindar. The third race went to R. Scovilles Queen Whims, which was making her first start as a three-year-old. She was another that found the going good on the outside, and she showed a high flight of speed coming down the stretch to overhaul the tiring Seminola and win out in the last seventy yards. Seminola ran well until the latter part. Akimbo was a contender all the way and held on to save third place. C. C. Pauls Drone won the fourth race, at one mile and seventy yards. He gradually improved his position until he collared the leader just in time. Fair Justice also came fast and took second place away from Johnny Callahan which, after being in restraint, gained the lead in the stretch, but faltered with only a few strides to go. • .
