CONNAUGHT CUP HANDICAP Main Attraction of Montreal Jockey Clubs Program. ♦ Attack Proves Best ami Carries 115 rounds to Victory Over "Frontlet— light View Scores. ♦ ■ MONTREAL, Que.. June 19— James Hef-ferings good Canadian-bred mare Attach came back after her record breaking /performance at Connaught Park to win the Con-naught Cup Handicap at Blue Bonnets this afternoon. Carrying 115 pounds and with the diminutive A. Maclver in the saddle, AttacK scored an easy victory when she galloped home in front of Troutlet, leading the latter by five lengths. There were five starters m the Connaught Cup, for which Mr. Gaiety was the public choice. If the connections of the latter expected Mr. Gaiety to run a good race they were greatly disappointed for he was far back most of the distance and at the finish was third, beaten off nine lengths. Circulet set the early pace. The Seagram racer went to the front in the run to the first turn with Attack keeping him company. After passing the half mile post Attack shook off opposition and began drawing away, and at the finish was under restraint. Attack ran the mile and an eighth in 1:0%. The race had a net value of ,400 to the winner. TWO WITHDRAWN. Shrew ami Sweet Lacruse were withdrawn from the first race, which left ten to go. Considerable support developed on Elder Blossom, a recent arrival from Ohio, but when it came to the running Elder Blossom was never a factor. Pleasant Smiles and Peter Fiz outbroke the others when the barrier was sprung and, drawing away from their opposition, they set a fast pace and raced head and head into the home stretch. In the last sixteenth they both tired and Sun Clover, coming from behind with a rush, assumed an easy lead to win at the end by two lengths. Philips First was second, a length in front of Dainy Maid, which wjs up in time to beat Pleasant Smiles a neck for third place. Tom Healey, the master hand, brought Senaldo, the seven-year-old son of Spanish Prince, back to the races after an absence of two years to win the second race. Senaldo was one of a field of ten which went to the post in the second rac. He was ridden by L. Schaefer and, on his old time form alone, was made the medium of a strong play and started favorite. Beginning last and following along with the rear division for three-eighths, Senaldo began moving up on the outside on the far turn. In the final eighth he came fast to get up in the final strides to beat Rundale by a head. Circus Rider was third, another length back. Calm, which showed much early speed, tired badly and was eased up. IX RUI*AWA?: STYLE. Philip, which was racing for the first time since the Bowie meeting, scored a runaway victory when he won the third race, a dash of five-eighths for two-year-olds. The son of Peter Pan was carrying the colors of W. JS. Caskey, Jr., who purchased the colt from the Nevada Stock Farm in Maryland. Well backed Philip went to the post favorite. W. Curran had the mount and when the start came Philip began in the middle of the buneh but was soon out in front. He went to the quarter in :23 and to the half mile in :46%. Continuing on at a rapid pace, Philip increased his advantage to four lengths and retained this margin to the end. Rayo was second, a neck in front of Brown Thistle, with Wrackell fourth. Play Ball stood still when the barrier was released and was as good as left at the post. When he finally started he closed a big gap. An additional attraction was provided in a condition race, over one mile, which was run as the fifth race. It resulted in an easy victory for Light View, from the Ascot Stable. Light View was a bit fractious at the post and when the slart came was very slow to begin. He was far back until on the far turn, where he slipped through on the inside and, moving up past, charged on the pacemaker as they swung into the home stretch. Glacial had led hy a length margin up to this point, but after going five-eighths she tired. In the run through the long stretch Light View took command to win going away at the end by six lengths. Strong-heart was second, four lengths in front of th3 tiring Glacial. The winner ran the one mile in l£t% and at the finish his rider had lost one of his stirrup irons. Light Views victory marked ihe first for the Ascot Stable at the meeting. A
