DISTRACTION BADLY KICKED NEW YORK, X. Y., April 22. There is a doubt if Distraction will be a starter in the Dixie Handicap at Pimlico. In the running of the Paumonok, while at the post, Distraction was severely kicked on the hock and his race was doubly creditable after that injury, when he finished third to Sarazen II. and Judge Schilling. When it was decided not to start Diavolo in the Dixie, Fitzsimmons felt that he had a royal chance in the big handicap with Distraction, which has trained exceedingly well. His race in the Paumonok testified to his fitness, but this unfortunate injury may result in his not going to the post. Distraction is in the Dixie under 120 pounds and, with Victorian and Diavolo both eliminated and some of the others progressing none too well, there were high hopes for this Wheatley Stable candidate.
