j NEW YORK TURF NOTES j $ : $ NEW YORK, N. Y., April 22. Bob Shannon has taken first call on the services on jockey L. McDermott for this season. McDermott rode here several years ago. for the Hamilton Farms. Tommy Schullman, well known Cincinnati sportsman, arrived from his home. He stated that he was a guest of trainer Dick Thompson of the Idle Hour Stock Farm over the week-end. Thompson has forty-five horses in training and will bring an extensive division East next month. Students of statistics recalled the fact that trainer Henry ilcDaniel saddled the winner of the closing race at Empire City last fall for G. A. Cochran in St. Marco and the first winner of the regular season this year in Polygamous. Algernon Daingerfield stated yesterday that, beginning at Jamaica, post positions for all stakes would be drawn forty-five minutes before post time. Post positions for other races will be drawn the day previous and will be posted on the program. Two horses changed hands via the claiming route. G. W. Coburn took Spantaf t from the Eastland Farms out of the third race Monday for ?1,G00, while R. W. Selden claimed Irish from J. II. White out of the second for 2,500.
