Eugene Normile, well known racing official and former manager of Jack Dempsey, as spokesman for the group, declared a beautiful tract of 200 acres lying about thirty miles south of San Francisco has been secured at a cost of 00,000, on which improvements to the extent of ,000,000 will be made. "The sponsors of the new club, which has been named the Fair Oaks Racing and Polo Club, wish it distinctly understood that there will be no conflict with the Tanforan racing dates, said Normile. "It is tentatively proposed to open our track for its inaugural meeting early in the coming year, probably in January." H. D. Brown, son of the late "Curly" Brown, will have charge of the building of the track. He was associated with his father in the promotion and construction of Arlington Park at Chicago and of the Havana and Laurel tracks. Ground will be broken within the next two weeks, it was said. «
