Trainer Kay Spence is awaiting the weights for the Suburban Handicap, to be renewed at Belmont Park June 6, before making a definite decision as to the status of Gallant Knight with regard to that race. The weights are due June 1 and if acceptable Gallant Knight will be shipped to the New York track on June 3. Edward Haughton is sending the Green-tree Stables Lazy Susan to the Greentree Farm in Kentucky. She will be retired for breeding purposes. Howard Stearns, well known trainer, who prepared all of the J. N. Camden horses this spring, was an arrival from Kentucky. Although at present not engaged, Stearns has experienced no difficulty making a connection with one of the larger stables. The stables of B. O. Hickman, Harned Brothers and Leon Jones were among those to reach Lincoln Fields from Louisville this morning. The Valley Lake Stable, locally owned, weeded out six cheap horses at Aurora, where John R., Cyruben, Brown Street, Fair Lawn, Rasuli and Feu Follet were disposed of. Cousin Jo, Charles Nuckols winner of the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs and favorite for the Illinois Oaks at Washington Park on June 6, worked seven-eighths over the Homewood track in 1:28 this morning. M. Syufy unloaded Morpheus from Bain-bridge Park and will train and race him for the San Mateo Stable. Jockey G. De Peso, who has been out of the saddle for some time, expects to resume riding within the next few days. Hugh Gilmore, assistant to starter Hamilton in Kentucky and at the XTew Orleans tracks, was an arrival from Kentucky and will make a short stay. Apprentice T. Vercher, who suffered a nose fracture at Exposition Park and re sumed riding Monday, when he had the mount on Transgression, hopes to remain active without further interruption. He rode with his nose heavily taped yesterday and today. George Senn put in his first appearance of the season. He came from Kentucky and will remain of the Washington Park meeting. Tracks for horses and horses for tracks. This trite turf saying never was better exemplified than in the case of Tannery, which won Washington Parks inaugural feature. Tannery won two stake events at Lexington this spring. At Churchill Downs he positively refused to run up to his form. Tannery has always liked the Washington Park course, over which he won last year. In his triumph over a drying out course he defeated some of the best horses in the West. C. T. Fishers Easter Time is another star in the Dixiana Stable. In his first start he defeated Knebelkamp and Morris Adobe Post, considered one of the best that has been shown in the West up to this time. Easter Time is royally bred, being by High Time — Complexion, by Fair Play. This colt ran like all of the good High Times. It may be in the cards for him to prove another Sarazen. The chestnut gelding Racketeer, which won the fifth race all the way on Monday, paying off in high numerals, was trained at Douglas Park, Louisville, by "Wild Sam" Hutcherson for the Rosehome Stable, owned by Ben Rosenheim of Chicago. Racketeer proved a good thing among a coterie aware of his ability, due to his wininng performance at Aurora. "Wild Sam" was confident that the Sir Martin gelding would win. He predicted correctly that he would beat his field after the fashion of his first triumphant out. Pittsburgher, the great three-year-old owned by Theodore E. Mueller, will be seen under colors Wednesday. Trainer James H. Moody, who saddled Pittsburgher in the Kentucky Derby, is confident the colt would have been second in that race had he not suffered ill racing luck. Pittsburgher is _. big, rangy colt. In action he reminds one of his illustrious kinsman Exterminator. Frank Harris, formerly part owner of the horse Gold Handle, has acquired full ownership of the animal and has him stabled at Lincoln Fields. For lack of proper identification the filly May Pennant was ordered withdrawn from the tihrd race by the stewards.
