TANNERY, taken into the lead, saved ground throughout, was much used resisting the challenges of LIGHTNING BOLT and. holding on well after being headed, outstayed PAUL BUNYAN, but was no match for the winner. PAUL BUNYAN met interference on the first turn, raced far back for the first half mile, and closed ground under hard urging thereafter. LIGHTNING BOLT forced the early pace under restraint, held the lead briefly in the stretch, theft tired. LADY BROADCAST began poorly and sulked. HOMEWOOD showed speed from the start, but tired. HAPPY HANLY had no mishaps. KING PIN bore out badly on the first turn.
