New stable, upset ! j calculations when he raced to an easy score over Sun Man, from the Thorncliffe Stable, . j with third accounted for by J. C. Fletchers , J Ichitaro. Sun Man was installed the choice , and he raced along in a forward position as c he followed the pace of Par Excellence. Moving up at the stretch turn with a bold , J rush, the Thorncliffe Stable starter «ave his [ backers encouragement as he shortened the pacemakers margin. The final run to the . J finish found him wanting in speed and he . had to be content with second honors. Par J Excellence crossed the line five lengths to j , the good, while Sun Man held a four-length l advantage over Ichitaro. ■ The Fox Chapel Studs good jumper Liber-tin . showed a brilliant performance to annex major honors in the running of the Wood-bine Steeplechase that had its forty-ninth , running to score over five others that op- . posed him over the two and one-half miles Journey. J. Bosleys Billycock landed in j j second place, six lengths behind the Fox : ■ Chapel racer. Royal Doulton easily led home 5 the trio of performers from the Brier Farm , , Stable. The representatives from the latter establishment were John Sobieski, Jingle » and Marcella and they finished as named. The Woodbine Steeplechase was worth ,720. and Libertin, in addition to being installed . a top-heavy choice, was forced to establish the pace for the entire way to round out his triumph in a drive. R. W. R. Cowies good home-bred Froth i Blower, winner of the Kings Plate and j the Breeders Stakes, both of which were run here, added further to his achievements s when he accounted for the William Hendrie Memorial Handicap, in which he met some e of the better class older racers of Canadian 1 parentage. His triumph added ,550 to his s earnings, and resulted in a most spectacular r . drive, in which he got up to take the measure . of R. H. News Aymond. The latter, incidentally, was winner of the Kings Plate g of 1930, and it was a rare treat to witness s the pair striving for this valuable fixture. , J. E. Smallmans aged campaigner. Gay . Parisian, finished in third place, while T. M. Glasscos Pat Gaiety easily led home e Refiner, Quatra Bras and Kitling. This was the third consecutive triumph u for the Cowie colt, and so far he has an unblemished H record in his three-year-old campaign. A ■
