CEE TEE, making his first start, began slowly, but moving up fast after reaching the turn, gamely worked his way into the lead in the final eighth and, holding on well, outstayed TEXAS KNIGHT. The latter began slowly, appeared to bear in badiy on the stretch turn, but went to the outside in the final quarter, where he closed gamely and camo out of the race with cuts about the left fetlock joint. BENEFIT showed speed from the start, saved ground, but gave way badly in the final eighth. K. RUSSELL began fast, showed speed and tired. STRAIGHTAWAY was outrun. COLD CHECK showed early speed. JOJE, rank at the post and placed outside the stalls, began poorly. GETTIN EVEN, a factor from the start and, well ridden, raced into the lead with a rush on the inside entering the stretch and, continuing strongly, won easily thereafter. ST. JIM, away fast, but unable to keep up, showed improved speed after reaching the final five-sixteenths, but could not threaten the winner. BACCIOCCO. jostled about shortly after the start, went to the outside on the turn and tired after five-eighths, but was best of the others. RIFF RAFF lost some ground. BOILING tired badly. BILL LOONEY showed speed for half a mile and swerved when tiring. RETORT was outrun. OVERLAY, fractious at the post and away slowly, saved much ground and worked her way up after reaching the last quarter and won drawing out. ILIUM, hustled into the lead, set the pace under vigorous urging and bore out badly in the stretch. CAMP PRINCE, forwardly placed from the start, raced wide into the stretch and tired after five-eighths. SCOTLANDS GLORY began well, but was forced back when forced into close quarters on the inside of ILIUM on the turn, lost much ground on the stretch turn, then tired after challenging. UMA, a quick starter and suited by the going, drew clear on the turn, where she was briskly shaken up, continued gamely under strong riding after reaching the stretch and lasted for a lucky win. FLYING HOME, close up, went very wide on the stretch turn and, closing gamely, just failed to get up, the big loss of ground probably costing her the race. PAUL BUNYAN met interference on the first turn, raced far back for the first half mile, and closed ground under hard urcing thereafter. LIGHTNING BOLT forced the early pace under restraint, held the lead briefly in the stretch, then tired. LADY BROADCAST began poorlv and sulked.
