ROCK CREST moved up on the inside midway around the turn and, saving ground in the stretch, closed fast and was up to win in the final strides. FITZGOLD disposed of ANOKA in the first eighth and, opening up z good lead and ridden out sharply, just failed to last. SANTA CREST finished gamely. DEVAS VALE made up a lot of ground in the last quarter. ANOKA, away fast, lacked speed to keep pace with the leaders and tired in the stretch. STAR DIADEM was never prominent. LULLABY II., went into a long lead after leaving the back stretch, began tiring in the stretch and had to be hard ridden to last long enough. MY OLD ROSE moved up on the outside in the last quarter, closed gamely and was going much the fastest of all at the end. MARCH MYSTIC, away fast, came again in the stretch, but tired right at the end. TRICE was close up throughout. ELCIDIO closed fast from a slow start BOLD BENDIGO closed a good gap after being away slowly. AIRWAY raced close up throughout. MILESTONE set the early pace, but was unable to match strides with the winner when challenged. TIPSY closed ground in the stretch. GRIMROCK dropped back, but came again in the stretch.
