June 5.— The big event for the week-end sport of the Westchester Racing Association at Belmont Park Saturday afternoon is the forty-fifth renewal of the famous old Suburban Handicap over the mile and a quarter route, which had its first running back in 1884 at the old Sheepshead Bay course of the Coney Island Jockey Club. In all the runnings of the prize there have been only three winners that have scored with a greater weight than James Butlers Questionnaire, sterling four-year-old son of Sting, will shoulder tomorrow afternoon. The weight of 128 pounds has been accepted and the only greater weight that has been successfully carried was when Henry of Navarre won the 1896 running under 129 pounds; when Whisk Broom II. was winner in 1903 under 139 pounds, and the score of Grey Lag in 1923, carrying 135 pounds. There are seven named for this years renewal and, with the 0,000 that is added, the prize will gross well over 5,000 and, despite his heavy impost, it is probable that the son of Sting will be a popular choice, by reason of his easy victory in the running of the Metropolitan Handicap, in which he carried 124 pounds. Should he be the winner he will equal the score of his sire Sting, which in 1925 won both the Metropolitan and the Suburban. FORMIDABLE OPPONENTS. The high weights that oppose the Butler champion are the Audley Farm Stables Gallant Knight, winner of the Grainger Memorial and shipped from Chicago for the running, and the Rancocas Stables Mokatam, recent winner of the Spindrift Handicap. Gallant Knight is in under 124 pounds, while Mokatam is handicapped at 123. M. Sheas Sandy Ford was an unexpected entry. He is in under 111 pounds and has been training well for the test. Then there is Ral Parrs good filly Her Grace, under 109 pounds. This filly was thrown down in the running of the Metropolitan, but has shown enough to warrant the belief that she will give a good account of herself. Samuel D. Riddles greatly improved Great Gun is another acceptance. This fellow was handicapped at 105 pounds, but he has since incurred a winning penalty of three pounds, bringing his weight to 108. The only other of the company is W. R. Coes swift-running three-year-old Polydorus and his weight is 104 pounds. With the promise of fair weather and a fast track the renewal should be a notable one.
