CAPTAINS GIRL raced BILLYCOO into defeat in the first half, but tired fast in the final drive. RECESS, in trouble for three-eighths, saved ground when moving up and finished gamely. CRITTALL lost all chance when taken wide into the stretch. STERN CHER raced evenly. BILLYCOO tired. GOLDEN PATCH, hard ridden from the start, drew clear on the turn, was hard ridden thereafter and «1rew out at will. S. J. GILLFILLAN. always close up, was unable to keep pace with the winner in the final drive. CANDY MAN was rushed up on the outside early, saved ground throughout, but could not get up. SIR STANLEY was crowded back sharply leaving the back stretch. LILY SUE was outrun. MIRAGE had a rough race. LADY ESSINGTON was held safe. ATTAMART tired badly when challenged. HIGHLAND CHIEF was done after five eighths. The latter, racing in improved fashion, worked his way up on the outside to close with good speed. J. J. BAMBRICK, forced to race on the outside, closed gamely in the closing test. DOMINEER made a determined effort when leaving the back stretch, but tired when the real issue came. GENERAL CLINTON showed an improved effort, but was not good enough. LORD VALENTINE raced poorly.
