The third running of the Thomas Curran Memorial Handicap, at five and one-half furlongs, ,000 added, for two-year-old colts and geldings, will be decided next Saturday, June 13, at Washington Park. Many of the best youngsters of the male sex in training are eligible for this stake. • Proteus, owned by A. Pelleteri, winner of « the Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill . Downs, is on the ground and likely will rule one of the choices. Clyde Van Dusen will enter the Dixiana 1 Stables Easter Time, a colt which has in t two starts triumphed on each occasion in . handy order. By good judges he is regard ed as a coming champion. The Three Ds Stock Farm will have a 1 formidable pair in Texas Knight and Lib- erty Limited, both by Sir Galahad III. Both cost around 0,000 each at A. B. Hancocks " sale. These colts have shown well in racing. ■ E. J. OConnell will enter Adobe Post, a Cherokee Ruth S. He chestnut gelding by — has demonstrated fine form since the first of the year. Hal Price Headley, who is in the habit of i sending tip-top horses to the post, probably i will enter two for the race. He has Pre- pare, son of Supremus— Parody, and Cathop, son of Supremus — Clonakilty. The latter a half-brother to Mike Hall and has • earned brackets. Joe Leiter, Chicago sportsman, probably will be represented by Prince Hotspur, son 1 of Dunlin — Lady Emmeline. This colt fig- I ured in a bristling finish at Washington Park with Tellico and Marcasite, the latter i gaining the decision over Tellico by reason I of a disqualification. All were heads apart : at the finish. The Everglades Stable has a good one in I Dyak, by Dodge — Quality. Dyak missed i by a narrow margin when Indian Runner . won the Stewart Ridge Purse last Thursday. I Anthony Wayne, a bay colt by Lee O. Cot-ner — Betty B. has shown several sparkling performances and may run extra well in the stake. He is owned by R. W. Collins, who races under the nora de course of Elm-hurst Stud. Other prominent eligibles include R. S. Clarks Indian Dance, F. M. Grabners Gold Tip and True Play, T. P. Hayes Red Runner, Keeneland Studs Don Romiro, J. W. Marchbanks Chazzan, Northway Stables N. The first two weeks of the Washington Park meeting have surprised in patronage. It has been far beyond expectations of the management.
