JAMESTOWN IN FAST WORK NEW YORK. N. Y.. June 6.— A. J. Joyner. the old master has been going along in his usual careful way bringing George D. Wideners Withers winner, Jamestown, up to his engagement for the Belmont Stakes at one mile and a half to be run next Saturday. Jamestown has had abundant slow galloping, but Saturday morning he was permitted to work a mile and a quarter in 2:07-. The son of St. James and Mile. Dazie was breezing all the way and the move was decidedly impressive. He went the first half in :50-f,. the six furlongs in 1:17, mile in 1:41% and the mile and a furlong in 1:54 to be well in hand in the last eighth of the trial. Jamestown is to have an outing at Belmont Park Monday when he races a mile and a fuilong in an overnight event, in which he is only opposed by Gaelic Prince. Gigantic and Mad Career.
