Goodman, F. J. Lucey, L. T. Cox, James D. Norris, Jr., C. Runnels, A. J. Horan, E. G. Beck, E. McVeigh, A. W. Joseph, Robert Lay, Sol Moss, C. Stanton, W. L. Cook. Also Mrs. E. B. Tower, W. L. Cook, Arthur D. Bensinger, Dr. L. F. McBride, S. E. Pier-son, E. J. Barr, Harman Altman, E. Blake, Leroy Brown, R. M. Eastman, W. T. Rigney, M. Goldstone, A. W. Kruse, James Oliver, E. R. Green, Charles Wolf, Albert Meyer, B. M. Swasey, and others. With her mother critically ill at the family home in Washington, Vrs. Katherine Elkins Hitt, owner of Sun Meadow, did not come here to witness the American Derby performance of her star colt. Henning Chambers and Lawrence Jones, leaders in finance and brokerage, came up from Louisville for the big event. They are directors of the American Turf Association. Bruce Campbell, noted barrister, was in the big delegation from southern Illinois. Edwin P. Morrow, former Governor of Kentucky, was in the big club house throng. J. N. Camden, former United States Senator from Kentucky, had among his guests United States Senator James E. Watson of Indiana. John A. Swanson, states attorney, members of his family and friends had club house reservations. John C. Schank, C. W. Bidwill, Joseph A. Murphy, Albert Sabath, Thomas McHale, Charles Krutchkoff and John Haskett, leaders in the affairs of the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association, witnessed the great program. Adjournment of the Legislature at Springfield permitted many enthusiasts among the Illinois lawmakers to reach Chicago this morning and no few of them spent the afternoon at Washington Park. Thomas Piatt, Kentucky breeder and owner of Brookdale Farm, was among the scores of Kentuckians present. The Revislee Country Club had four boxes in the club house, and the Kentucky Racing Commission one. George E. Q. Johnson, United States, district attorney, was a clubhouse visitor. Tom Dennison and Pat Boyle, prominent Omaha sportsmen, motored from the Nebraska city to witness the running of the American Derby. E. Phocian Howard, publisher of the New York Press, was an arrival and will remain for a few days.
