ETCETERA lost ground going to the turn, gradually worked his way into the lead under strong urging, continued fast, but could not draw away. BRYONIA began fast, showed early speed and, flinching under punishment, dropped back as if through near the final sixteenth, but came again under hand riding in the closing stages. PARIS BOUND went to the outside in the stretch and closed fast. MEXICO raced well. SUNS SON, hustled along from the start, tired when the final test came. DEPRESSION tired badly. BEST MAN, going in his best form and lucky, began slowly, but soon raced into contention, easily wore down the leaders and, drawing into a safe lead, won under restraint. CHEERS had speed from the start and held on well after dropping back slightly on the stretch turn. FIDDLER, shuffled back, closed gamely. ELLICE tired. ISLAM showed fine speed in the closing stages. ILIUM raced wide. HOT SHOT showed early speed. BURGOO failed to respond to urging, as if sulking and was eased up in the stretch. UP ABOVE was done early. AMYVALE besran fast from the extreme outside, readily assumed command when called upon and, holding on gamely, withstood ZIDA. The latter, close up from the start and under light restraint until reaching the last three-eighths, challenged, but could not get up. KADIAK began slowly and remained far out of it for the first half, then improved his position slowly on the lower turn and closed resolutely. JOLLY KING raced prominently throughout. WEIDELEEN tired. CHARLIE showed early speed. PHANTASIME dropped back after going three-eighths and was not a serious factor thereafter. SUN MEADOW met interference shortly after the start, worked his way up on the outside and tired badly after bearing out on the far turn. RUSHING, slow to get going but saving much ground until reaching the final three-eighths, where he went to the outside, responded gamely and gradually improved his position to outfinish WORKLESS. The latter, well in hand for the first three-quarters, went gamely in the final drive, but was not good enough. KING PIN lost much ground reaching the leader, displayed good speed and held on well to the final eighth. SILVER SCEPTER, under restraint for the first three-quarters, offered a mild challenge, then tired. HOUSE-BOY had no mishaps. WIZARDRY began slowly.
