HIALEAH PARK GOSSIP William Taylor, veteran jockey, reports that his wife is recovering rapidly from an operation for appendicitis in Jackson Memorial hospital. Jockeys and horsemen are subscribing to a testimonial fund to be turned over to her. Frank Munden, contract rider for Victor Emanuels Dorwood Stable, was an arrival from Oriental Park, Cuba. Former jockey William Davis is assistant to the stewards at Hialeah Park. Davis rode the winner of the first race run at Belmont Park on one of the late August Belmonts horses, Blandy, in 1905. He also rode Minute Man, a two-year-old, to beat the four-year-old McChesney, star of another generation. The many friends of Richard Pending, track superintendent at Bowie, will be pleased to learn that he has recovered from an operation performed about ten days ago and will be up and about his duties some day next week. Joseph B. Boyle, general manager of the Bowie plant, who is here for a short visit, wishes to remind horsemen who contemplate racing at Bowie this spring, to put in their application for stalls with Richard Pending as soon as possible. Owing to the open winter, the track has been available all winter to horsemen who wished to use it. Located in the middle of a pine forest and with its natural sandy soil, Bowie is an ideal place to winter and there were more horses stabled on the grounds this winter than ever before. "Doc" Brandt was an arrival from Cuba this morning. His shipment included San Presto, Eil-Weir, Maid of Honor and Winter Play. Logan Denny has arranged to have the steeplechaser, Le Bey, shipped from the farm where he is wintering to the Lexington track, where he will be turned over to Al Hammet. Le Bey will be shipped to Denny when the latter arrives in Maryland this spring. Tom Piatt, one of Kentuckys prominent breeders, "was a club house visitor. Visitors at Hialeah Park Saturday saw fourteen pink flamingoes swimming in the infield lake. These birds have been imported from Cuba by Joseph E. Widener and should add a distinctive touch to the center field vista. William McCabe, former jockey, will leave Hialeah Park for Laurel, Md., Monday to take up three horses, which he has wintering at the Maryland course. Following are the recent additions to the schooling list: Foul Tip, Lady Bracadale, Panetian, Bright Monk, Candy King, Merri-man C, Revonah, Kitty Graves and Meek
