HIALEAH PLAY INCREASES MIAMI, Fla., Jan. 23. -Play in the pari-mutuels at Hialeah Park is steadily increasing. Mortimer M. Mahoney, director of the system at the Miami Jockey Club course, reports that the handle Thursday was 23,256, which was just slightly lower than on opening day. The attendance is also showing an increase. During the weekend the place and show odds boards at Hialeah Park will be revised to cut down the indicator scale from 6,000 to ,000. The present scale is too large for the bulk of play, but under the arrangement, the tape can be moved by a play of 0.
