STEWARD BEGINS DUTIES NEW ORLEANS, La., Jan. 23 C. J. Fitz-Gerald, steward of the Louisiana Jockey Club, was an arrival from Kentucky and, with racing secretary Joseph McLennan assisting for Jack B. Campbell, who will serve with FitzGerald during the forty-eight day meeting, opening at the Fair Grounds Monday, passed upon scores of applications for licenses Thursday. FitzGerald was amazed at the splendor and completeness of the Fair Grounds and said that the plant vastly outstripped his expectations.
