9 HIALEAH PARK TURF NOTES J. H. Mclntyre, president of the Hamilton Jockey Club, came down from Palm Beach to look over the plant. "This is a wonderful race course, the finest that I have ever seen in my travels, both in this conutry and Europe. Mr. Widener is to be congratulated on his achievement in making this one of the show places of Florida." In regard to the outlook" for racing in Canada the coming season Mr. Mclntyre is of the opinion that some relief must come from the government or many of the race courses in Canada will be forced to declare off their meetings. Robert J. Padgett, one of Baltimores prominent citizens, is here for an extended stay. A great friend of racing, Mr. Padgett has done his part in keeping the sport alive in Maryland. He was busy during the afternoon greeting his many friends in the club house. Frank E. Brown, one of the prominent trainers on the metropolitan circuit, is here for the winter. Tommy Kodrock plans to return to Virginia Tuesday. He reports that jockey E. Watters was released by the K. E. Hitt stable last fall. Freddy Stevens will ride for the stable when his services are available. C. P. Winfrey received word from Richard Pending that Alcman and Sharon, which he left at Bowie, are wintering in good shape. Pending is also wintering Syriac for P. E Fitzgerald. The thirteen mares at H. Teller Archibalds Archwood Manor Farm, The Plains, Va., had thirteen foals last spring and all of the youngsters are alive and doing well. A majority of them will be bred back to Westy Hogan this spring. Raymond "Sonny" Workman, senior rider for C. V. Whitney, returned today from Washington, D. C, where he was attending the funeral of his grandmother, who died last Sunday. Drs. J. P. McCluskey and Frank Kennedy of Red Bank, N. J., were guests of Thomas J. Healey, chief trainer of the C. V. Whitney establishment, at Hialeah Park. Report is received of the foaling of a chestnut colt by Cynic Char Lady, which is owned by Mrs. Marion Goerner. Cynic is by the Epsom Derby winner Captain Cuttle, from the Buchanan mare Sceptical. The colt was foaled at Jack Howards Rockwood Farm, near Lexington, Ky. C. H. Trotter will leave Miami Sunday for Churchill Downs to take up the horses of Rome Respess at Churchill Downs. Respess has twenty-nine horses in his establishment, fifteen of which are quarter d at the Kentucky racing center. . Roscoe Goose, who trains eighteen horses for varied western interests, will leave Florida within a few days to return to Kentucky where he has a public stable of eighteen horses stationed at Churchill Downs. Goose is known for his ability to develop successful jockeys, two of his recent proteges being Elmer James, whose contract he sold to Joseph Leiter, and G. Elston, who is now in the employ of Mose Gold-blatt. Starter Cassidy set jockeys Clelland and Gatrone down for three days for disobedience while at the post in the two-year-old 1 race.
