The Gables Racing Associations firs? meeting was a success, despite conditions of the present time. The track promises tp. figure largely in future racing, and its second meeting, to follow that of the present Hialeah Park meeting, should be an even greater success. During the sixteen days of racing from December 26 to January 13, the new association distributed a total of 15,400 among the winning horsemen, a daily average of ,212.50. The Canadian sportsman, J. C. Fletcher, was the most successful of the owners who raced their horses at Tropical Park, scoring six victories and winning ,350. The Ma hopac Stable horses accounted for four purses and ,050, and E. A. Igleharts col-orbearers won the same number of xaces, as did the Mahopac horses, but their efforts were worth only ,625, the difference lying in the number of seconds and thirds. Fair Bill, veteran plater, led the money" winning horses with ,300, finishing first four times and second twice. Bird of Prey won three times, was second once and third once, and earned ,500 to tie with Muff for second place. Muff also won three races and finished second once. The sensational apprentice Henry Mills was the leading rider with twenty-seven victories out of a total of eighty mounts. His percentage, .34, was astonishingly high for such a young rider. J: P. Mayberry had no rivals for training honors, sending eight winning horses to the post L. C. Veatch saddled five winners during the meeting.
